2,3-Dihydro-4(1H)-quinazolinones derivatives were synthesized efficiently by a three components one-pot reaction of isatoic anhydride, aromatic aldehydes, ammonium salts or primary amines in the presence of aluminum chloride in alcohol-water solution. The structures of products were characterized by IR, 1H-NMR, 13C-NMR, MS techniques and elemental analysis. Compared to the reported methods, this protocol have advantages of short reaction time, high yield, simple experimental and work-up procedures, and environmentally benign procedure.
